Do I have to attend all the
semesters in order? What
happens if I miss a semester?
Because of the cohort and sequential nature of our programs, we strongly
encourage you to stay with your program. However, we
do understand that situations arise in which a student must
miss a semester. In this situation, the student will
need to return to complete the missed courses with the
following program. However, these courses may occur
during different semesters which will require multiple trips
to Utah.
Do I
have to have a laptop?
We do require laptop computers for all programs.
RMUoHP has arranged for
educational discounts through Dell and HP for your
convenience. Please click on either logo below to take
advantage of these discounts. Students may also consider
renting a laptop from their home community. RMUoHP
does not provide technical support for student laptops; you
should obtain any technical support from the laptop
manufacturer. All students should have mobile
technology (internal wireless or a wireless adapter) and the
Microsoft Office Suite.

Do I need to take the GRE?
No! Because RMUoHP is a post-professional program, our
students are already licensed or certified in their
respective fields. This licensure/certification serves
as an entrance examination. If
you've already taken the GRE, please feel free to submit
your scores as a supplement to your application.
How does
the program work? Is this a distance program? What do
I do when I'm not on-site?
The programs at Rocky Mountain University of Health
Professions are designed for working professionals who want
to seek higher education, but cannot abandon their homes and
practices. Our students attend several semesters, each
of which includes one on-site sessions consisting of approximately a week-long stay in
Provo. Each semester is broken into three
modules. The first module includes coursework
completed from the student's home community during the first
four weeks of the semester; the second module is the on-site
session; and the third module includes coursework completed
from the student's home community for the remainder of the
semester (3-5 months, depending on the program).
Coursework completed from the student's home community
includes assignments, exams, and Directed Independent Study
projects.
All exams are taken with a proctor's supervision.
Proctors are responsible to receive, supervise, and return
exams to the University upon completion. Students
select their proctor from criteria provided by the
University.
The Proctor process helps ensure the integrity of the
off-site exam process.
After the coursework and Directed Independent Study,
the student will then repeat the same cycle until until the
didactic portion is complete. The DPT and OTD programs
have two semesters over approximately one year; the DNP has three
semesters over one year and a six-to-nine month capstone project; and, the DSc has
six or seven semesters sessions over an 18-24 month period.
For the DSc, students complete the practicum and
dissertation from their home community.

How far is Provo from the Salt Lake City airport and how
will I get to Provo?
RMUoHP has a contract with Express Shuttle. It will cost you
$56.00 for a round trip. You can contact Express Shuttle at 1-800-397-0773. The hotels we recommend also provide transportation to and
from the University. Some students, however, elect to rent a
car.
RMUoHP also receives corporate discounts for vehicle
rental. This information is provided to students upon
admission.
How many
people are in a class?
Your classes will generally be quite small. We believe
the best atmosphere for learning is one that is hands-on and
one-on-one, thus, typical enrollment is about 10-15 students
for the Master's program, 25-35 for the DPT and OTD
programs; 15-25 for the DNP program; and, 8-12 for the DSc programs. We will not
run a program unless enrollment hits 8 students, however.
How much is it?
Please refer to the Financial Information link for
additional details.
Is there any
financial
assistance available?
RMUoHP has several financial assistance options. For
more details, please click on the Financial Information link.
For details on the program, please email the business office
at
businessoffice@rmuohp.edu.

While at home, how
many hours a week will I have to study?
Time management
is very important. The average DPT or OTD student needs to
dedicate approximately 15-18 hours per week studying, while the average
DNP or DSc student dedicates approximately 18-20 hours per week
during the didactic portion of the program (the first 18
months). However,
this number varies between students and programs.

What is the weather like in Utah?
Utah has four distinctive seasons - Fall and Spring are very
mild; summer is hot; and winter is cold and snowy.
Many of our students take advantage of the winter sessions
and stay later to participate in the great skiing nearby.

What should I bring with me on my first
on-session?
Bring your laptop computer, writing equipment, notebooks,
syllabi, University Handbook, a water bottle and/or
lunch (if you'd like), and anything else that will help you
sit through nine hours of class.
Where do I buy my books?
Although you can purchase your books from wherever you
choose, RMUoHP has a convenient online bookstore of one-stop
shopping located at
www.rmuohpbooks.com.
Where do the students eat?
Many students elect to buy food and
store it at the University. Other students go out
to lunch. There are several eating establishments within a
reasonable walk or drive of the University. Students
also may order lunch for delivery from local restaurants as
well.
The
recommended hotels are situated close to many restaurants as
well.
Where will I stay in Provo and how much will it cost?
RMUoHP has greatly discounted arrangements at two local
hotels, both of which offer free local transportation,
breakfast, free internet, and more! For both hotels,
students must mention Rocky Mountain University to receive
these rates.
